OPEN LETTER

This letter is in response to the recent recruitment letter of the IUA and to the Urantia Foundation's request for a donation.

By swearing in court, in the Maaherra case, that the Urantia Book was written by William Sadler, Jr., the Urantia Foundation has denied the Urantia Book's validity as a revelation in its ongoing attempt to maintain its fraudulent copyright and its claim to leadership and authority by means of that fraudulent copyright. It naturally follows that its leadership and authority are as false as its copyright. From the very beginning the Urantia Foundation has known that copyrights cannot be granted to superhuman authors, which is why it itself claimed to be the author on the first copyright application. The changes in the copyright law later forced the Foundation to come up with the "work for hire" claim. When at long last its claim to its fraudulent copyright has been fully challenged, as it now is in the Maaherra case, the Urantia Foundation has been forced to do what was always inherent in its attempts to maintain its copyright, namely to enlarge the initial lie into ever bigger lies. It shows no shame in doing this, and it shows no shame in naming William Sadler, Jr., as the author of the "work for hire."

The trustees' assertion that they had to claim human authorship because they could not prove superhuman authorship to the court is ridiculous. As if they really wanted to prove -- or even declare -- superhuman authorship! That would mean the immediate end of their copyright, which is the last thing in the world they want. As if the court had eve:, asked them to "prove" superhuman authorship to substantiate their claim! On various occasions the government and the courts have asked who wrote the book, and the Foundation has always known full well, from the first day of its false copyright application, what would happen if it told the truth, the truth that the trustees all say they privately believe.

The trustees of the Foundation are either too ignorant or too morally blind to notice that they have been forced to choose between maintaining their false copyright and maintaining their loyalty to God, Michael, and the human race. In this test, the Foundation has chosen its falsely obtained copyright over all other loyalties and priorities. It has sworn in court that William Sadler, Jr. wrote the Urantia Book as a work for hire and that it is a literary rather than a religious book. It did this because this is the only way -- through asserting human authorship of a non-religious work -- that the court could possibly find the Foundation to be in the right.

The Foundation has thereby broken faith with all believers in the Fifth Epochal Revelation, and it doesn't care. In effect, the Foundation has declared itself to the court to be atheistic and secular. The trustees, in their lack of perception of what they have done, believe that it is necessary and proper for them to assert their private belief in the truth of the Urantia Book while at the same time they publicly betray the Revelation, its authors, and the readership. They seem incapable of grasping the spiritual horror of what they have done. They seek to create an organization around them -- the IUA -- that is equally unable to grasp this horror.

If they could grasp it, they would see that the policies of the Foundation, going back to the claims of copyright and trademarks, were wrong from the beginning. They would see that it is spiritually impossible that the Midwayers would give "secret messages" to institute policies of legal control through copyrights and trademarks that would force the trustees to lie in court -- and to the world -- about the authorship and nature of the Urantia Book. The trustees' belief in those "secret messages" is the origin of their betrayal of themselves and everyone else. It is the origin of the dark and troubled history of the Urantia community.

Together, the trustees and their followers will continue to ignore that the Urantia Foundation is in default and has been in default since the first copyright application. Because of its belief in the superiority of the "secret messages" over the teachings of the Urantia Book in general and the teachings of Jesus in particular as revealed in this book, the Urantia Foundation has never considered the teachings of the Fifth Epochal Revelation to be the basis of its policies, attitudes, and practices. It has always regarded with contempt and condescension those "idealists" who have believed that the viewpoint of Jesus should guide the dissemination of the Urantia Book. The Urantia Foundation has always been a profoundly anti-Jesusonian institution, and it continues today in that same path. It remains wedded to the "secret messages."

In the name of the Father, the Son, the Spirit, Michael, and the human race, I ask that the Urantia Foundation cease to exist this very moment.
