Selected Excerpts from Joe Pope
Seattle, May 1988
Everything I tell you tonight, I do not do on my own.
I do not do this work of myself.
I'm only a messenger.
The message I'm about to give you comes from the Master.
My mission is to put this message into your conscious mind, and once it's there, it's finished as far as I'm concerned.
I'm going to submerge the personality of Joe Pope.
Therefore, I want you to see that he who sits before you is ...really a very humble Urantian just like you all.
Important jobs are not given to individuals, they are given to groups.
Any individual that is given a task as a sort of coordinator-convener, which is really what I am, they do it because there will be no selfish interest in that individual.
Maybe they were looking for someone who wouldn't be pretentious and presumptuous and self-important about it.
I'm only the messenger, only the telegram boy.
You should find no selfishness in any of this.
I'm not the Gatekeeper at the gates of heaven, I'm the Chancellor of the Kingdom, to welcome you, all who have come.
I've learned from the Gods that important responsibilities and jobs should be shared. The power should be shared and you should trust.
