Jesus Comments on Magic and Superstition
One evening in a question and answer session with a group of his Apostles and disciples, Jesus commented on the whole subject of human superstition. Following are some of his comments.
1. Astrology is a mass of superstitious error.
2. The spirits of the dead do not come back to communicate with friends or relatives.
3. Charms and relics are impotent to heal disease, ward off disaster . . .
4. The belief in magic numbers, omens of good luck . . . is pure and unfounded superstition.
5. The interpretation of dreams is largely a superstitious and groundless system of ignorant and fantastic speculation.
